Behçet’s UK (formerly Behçet’s Syndrome Society) exists to serve its members and is both strengthened and encouraged by members from all over the world.

Your membership benefits include:
- Our quarterly newsletter, exclusive to members, which contains up-to-date patient information, details of drug trials, patient feedback, and general information.
- Patient members living in the UK will receive a Patient’s Alert Card that fits in your wallet or purse, with room to fill in your emergency contact and medication details.
- A chance to join our annual Friends and Family day, which is held in a different location in the UK each year. It is a wonderful opportunity to have fun and meet others with Behçet’s.
- Request access to our members only Facebook Peer Support Group
- Financial support is available for members who are unable to make ends meet as a direct result of Behçet’s and who meet the qualifying criteria.
- The right to attend our Conference and AGM, where you can hear from and ask questions of prominent specialists in the Behçet’s field.
- Opportunities to take part in projects and research, such as our Breathe Creative Project.
Your membership enables us to:
- To run our Helpline, which is an invaluable link for those newly diagnosed, providing a listening ear and signposting service to help those with a particular question about the disease or need guidance on claiming benefits or referrals..
- Manage and run support groups for anyone in the UK affected by Behçet’s – an important lifeline for many and often the first opportunity for patients to meet and chat with others with Behçet’s.
- Produce trusted resources, including our medical factsheets which are valued by patients and medical professionals, as well as helpful guides and resources from GP guides for those seeking a referral, to guides to help patients stay in or return to work.
- Maintain this website and social media platforms which provide vital resources for everyone affected by Behçet’s.
- Represent our members and patients at meetings and events that promote the cause of rare diseases.
Membership Types
Standard Member
For adults aged 25 and over, there is an annual subscription of £30.
Concessionary Member
Adults aged 25+ who are UK residents and receive means-tested UK state benefits qualify for free membership
Young Member
Young adults aged 18-24 qualify for free membership
Junior Member
Parents and guardians are welcome to register their child under 18 as a junior member for free
